Life can throw a lot at you. Sometimes it’s a gradual build up of stressors, and sometimes they come at you all at once. The counseling department at Bel Air Middle recognizes that adolescence is no different. Maybe a student is experiencing conflict with a friend and doesn’t know the best way to approach it. Maybe time management is an issue as homework, extracurricular activities, and the demands of life start competing for your attentions. Perhaps a students is experiencing depression or anxiety for the very first time and doesn’t know who to talk to about it. Life can be overwhelming, and we want to make sure that we are here to support students academically, emotionally, and socially so they can be successful in the classroom and in life.

Mrs. Bobrow will work with students to identify what the real issues are behind their difficulties, create a list of goals to work towards, and collaborate with the student to generate a plan of how to get there. Interventions utilized are empirically supported and built on Choice Theory and includes interventions from Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. The goal of individual counseling is to identify the barriers for a student who is not meeting their goals and create a plan of action to help him or her reach full potential.

You can schedule a time to meet with Mrs. Bobrow by sending her an email or by stopping by the School Counseling Office to fill out a “Blue Pass”.
